The Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board participated in this year’s EMITT (East Mediterranean International Tourism & Travel Exhibition), one of the world’s largest and most influential tourism fairs and a key business platform for the global tourism industry. Held in Istanbul from 5 to 7 February 2026, the fair brought together leading global destinations, tour operators, tourism organizations, agencies, hotels, and other stakeholders from the tourism sector, with the aim of fostering new business connections, partnerships, and destination promotion.
At the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board stand, representatives of tourism boards, hoteliers, and travel agencies took part, including the Mostar City Tourist Board, Ilidža Hotels, Swissotel Sarajevo, Mövenpick, Hills, Hollywood, Monti Hotel Spa & Wellness, Ibis Styles, Balkan Travel Services, Akdeniz Travel Agency, among others.
Tourists from Türkiye represent a highly important target market for tourism in Sarajevo Canton, as they are among the most numerous foreign visitors, generate a significant number of overnight stays, and make a substantial contribution to the growth of overall tourist traffic.
At this year’s fair, the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board was honored with the EMITT 2026 Honorary Award in recognition of its long-standing participation in this prestigious tourism event.
EMITT is a global platform that connects tourism industry professionals from around the world. Previous editions, such as EMITT 2025, demonstrated strong interest from tour operators from the USA, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Switzerland, and many other countries. The fair hosted participants from more than 100 countries, with over 650 exhibitors and more than 23,700 visitors.
