The Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board is taking part in this year’s Alpe-Adria Fair, the largest tourism fair in the region, held in Ljubljana from 4 to 7 February. The promotion is being carried out in cooperation with the Central Bosnia Canton Tourist Board (SBK/KSB) and the Sarajevo-based travel agency Elegance Tours.

During the Alpe-Adria Fair in Ljubljana, the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board’s stand was honored by a visit from the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Dario Novalić. This visit represents a strong show of support for the promotion of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tourism offer on both the regional and international stage.

For many years, Sarajevo has been a well-recognized and much-loved destination among visitors from Slovenia. Tourists are particularly attracted by the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage, as well as the wide range of outdoor activities available in the immediate surroundings of the city and the winter experiences offered by the Olympic mountains. According to visitors from the region we spoke with at our promotional stand, Sarajevo is especially appealing during the New Year holidays, when the city is filled with a festive atmosphere, as well as throughout the winter season, when skiing and winter activities on Sarajevo’s Olympic mountains are the main draw.
Through our presentation at this fair, we are strengthening Sarajevo’s image as an authentic, cultural, and urban European destination, connecting tour operators, agencies, and investors, opening new partnerships, and increasing Sarajevo’s visibility in a highly competitive regional tourism market. The Alpe-Adria Fair in Ljubljana holds great importance for Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as it represents one of the key regional platforms for destination promotion, networking among tourism institutions, and direct communication with international markets.

This year marks the 36th edition of the fair, which serves as a central regional tourism event showcasing destination offers, outdoor activities, camping, gastronomy, and more. The fair provides an opportunity to promote outdoor tourism, present local tourism stakeholders, demonstrate traditional cuisine, and offers an informative and advisory section dedicated to travel planning. Previous editions of the Alpe-Adria Fair attracted more than 20,000 visitors and over 300 exhibitors from the region, making it one of the most important tourism events in Southeast Europe.
