It is important to note that the StećakLand project was carried out under the coordination of the Association for the Digitization of Cultural Heritage DIGI.BA, and in partnership with NoHo Production from Ireland, the Archaeological Institute of Belgrade, the National Museum of Montenegro, Kamerni Teatar 55, and the “Mak Dizdar” Foundation. The project is implemented within the Creative Europe programme, under the auspices of the European Commission for support to the culture and audiovisual sectors, stated Mirela Milak, Public Relations Associate of Kamerni Teatar 55.

The Creative Europe project StećakLand aims to take us into a world where the symbols found on stećci “come to life” and to introduce us to their meanings. Experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro will select the most representative stećci whose ornaments will populate a digital environment. StećakLand will be available through a Virtual Reality application installed at the Mak Dizdar House in Stolac, the Dubrovnik Museums, the National Museum of Montenegro in Cetinje, and the Viminacium Archaeological Park in Serbia. Through this application, museum visitors will learn the meanings of the symbols found on stećci and discover their stories. When visiting the necropolises from which the selected stećci originate, users will be able to read the meanings of the decorations and ornamental motifs through an Augmented Reality application.
