Main Sarajevo river is called Miljacka.
It goes through Sarajevo with its total length. Not swimmable or sailable :), but it is the river up on which Sarajevo has been founded.
Miljacka River is the right tributary of River Bosna, with flow length of 36 km. It is made of Paljanska and Mokranjska Miljacka.
Its basin drains the northern mountanious terrains of mountains Ravne and Trebević, southwestern slopes of Romanija and southern slopes of Bukovik and Crepoljsko.
It is a mountain aquifer of flooding character with two maximum flows (spring and late autmn) and two minimum (winter and summer). Central annual discharge of Sarajevo is 5.7 m³ / s.
The largest tributaries are Bistrica, Repašnica on the left, and Lapišnica, Mošćanica and Koševski Creek on the rigth side.
Miljacka flows into Bosna River at Sarajevo field upstream from Rajlovac.
In the upper flow it course through cliffed valley while its main tributaries Mokranjska and Paljanska are arising from karst springs, have had carved, in their lower courses, deep canyons.
Mokranjska Miljacka springs from the cave which is near the Kadino Village at Mokro (municipality of Pale). This is extremely valuable speleologic object is recorded under number of 1834, Cadastre of caves of whole Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it is not yet fully explored.
There are few Natural rarity areas in the these three Miljacka flows which are worth mentioning:
- The stone arch at the belove the village Dovlići
- Cliffs on the Miljacka from Pale to Goats Bridge
- The spring of Paljanska Miljacka, municipality Pale
- Calcereous area Pale with cascade on Paljanska Miljacka
- Calcereous area at creek Sitnica near Mokro, municipality pale
- Calcereous area at Jasenova near Mokro, municipality Pale.
Very much worth mentioning is that cave where Mokranjska Miljacka springs is an excellent opportunity for “avanturistic tourism” which would exclude any usage of electric enlightening or any constructing works inside the cave, so it is possible to feel the cave with more emotions and respect.

Mokranjska Miljacka Cave
By now it had been explored around 6230 m of this cave what makes it second longest one in Bosnia and Herzegovina, just behind the world famous Vjetrenica.
When it comes to Sarajevo area things worth visiting are:
